HARRY DUNN SUES TRUMP ADMIN OVER $1.8B FUND FOR CAPITOL RIOTERS: Maryland congressional candidate Harry Dunn and another police officer who defended the Capitol against a pro-Trump mob on Jan. 6, 2021, sued the Trump administration on Wednesday to try to block the creation of a nearly $1.8 billion fund that they say will be used to reward the rioters and right-wing militia groups. PENSION BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC TRUSTEES: The Board of Trustees for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) is seeking two trustees, one each from Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. Public Trustees serve a three-year term, from July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2029. The Board holds fiduciary oversight of the ERS for the sole benefit of members and beneficiaries. STATE PARKS EXPANDS VEHICLE RESERVATION SYSTEM: Maryland State Parks are expanding their vehicle entry reservation system to help manage long wait lines this summer. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, visitorship spiked significantly during the summer season, forcing capacity closures at five parks. So in the spring and summer of 2025, the state launched a pilot program that requires visitors to make advance reservations on weekends and holidays for daytime visits between Memorial Day and Labor Day at those five parks. - Under the agreement between the Department of Natural Resources and Kaizen Laboratories, which developed the reservation system, a 23% fee will be tacked onto state park entry fees, all of which will go to the company. CECIL COUNTY TO LOSE ALL HOSPITAL LABOR & DELIVERY SERVICES: ChristianaCare Union Hospital will stop delivering babies on June 30, leaving Cecil County without hospital-based labor and delivery services.
