Analysis: O’Malley is cover boy with Governing magazine
Gov. Martin O’Malley is the cover boy on this month’s issue of Governing magazine as one of eight Best Public Officials in the United States.
The close-up photo is remarkably similar to the one that ran in Irish America magazine two years ago, except in that one he had his tie loose and his suit-coat off.
Auditors, Montgomery register of wills at odds over fitness program
The Montgomery County Register of Wills has butted heads with legislative auditors, as the two state agencies disputed the propriety of a personal fitness program for the register’s employees.
The Office of Legislative Audits released a report last week that was critical of some of the register’s financial practices, notably its retention of a trainer for employees. The report says the office of Register of Wills Joseph Griffin spent about $35,500 on the training services, and may not have followed the correct procedures for procuring them.
MarylandReporter.com launches Monday
MarylandReporter.com officially launches its site on Maryland government and politics Monday, with a fresh Web page, new multimedia content and an e-mail news blast sent to about 3,600 addresses.
The daily newsletter, sent out Monday through Friday, has links to the news site’s original content and aggregation of all state government news and opinion collected from open Web sites at newspapers, broadcast outlets and blogs. Today, MarylandReporter.com has a new look, as well as the first installment of a weekly audio analysis piece done by its staff.
