In 2013 slightly more people left Maryland than moved to the state, according to a Capital News Service analysis of IRS tax filing data that tracks migration. However, the population continued to grow.

Recently released data from the IRS shows that about 5,500 more taxpayers left Maryland in 2012 than moved to the state.
