The Maryland General Assembly website will be out of service this weekend from Friday at 5 p.m. till Monday at 8 a.m.
Karl Aro, director of the Department of Legislative Services, said the shutdown just involves moving the server and other equipment as part of routine maintenance for the site.
So if you’re planning on checking out next week’s hearing schedule or doing any research on the tons of information about past sessions going back 15 years , you’d best get it done before happy hour on Friday.
The bill information from the 2011 regular session has already been moved to “prior session information” on the site, as the department prepares for the October special session. That has yet to be officially called by Gov. Martin O’Malley, but is expected to occur the week of Oct. 17,
Aro, who is the Assembly’s lead staff person on redistricting, also said he didn’t know when the Governor’s Redistricting Advisory Committee might release its congressional redistricting plan. Same goes for Andrew Ratner, communications director at the Department of Planning, which is staffing the committee.
