MarylandReporter.com has been generating some low-level buzz among the incestuous journalism community since serious work started on it in late August.
The latest and most complete story appeared in the October issue of The Business Monthly, circulating in Howard and Anne Arundel counties.
On Aug. 28, Sean Sedam at the Gazette of Politics and Business wrote “Like Brett Favre coming out of retirement, a veteran of the State House press corps could be making a return to Annapolis fulltime. Len Lazarick, the former bureau chief of the Baltimore Examiner, which stopped its presses for good in February, hopes to soon launch a new venture as a member of the ‘new’ media.” The item led MarylandReporter.com to put up a skeleton site.
When John Wagner at the Washington Post blogged about the site Sept. 23 , that really got the ball rolling. The item was picked up by Jim Romenesko at the Poynter Institute’s media blog, and then by dcrtv.com, the Washington-Baltimore media blog.
The City Paper’s Erin Sullivan followed up on her own with a blog.
The buzz has helped build subscribers to the MarylandReporter.com e-blast newsletter which will come out Monday through Friday when the site launches.
