Migraines are one of the most common disorders when it comes to the nervous system. The World Health Organization estimates that about 50% of adults worldwide suffer from it, which means they’ve been symptomatic at least once within the past year.

Thankfully, we’ve found some methods that might help people ease the symptoms of headaches or migraines. Most people first think of taking something like aspirin or ibuprofen, but now many people are turning to more natural remedies like cannabis oil as research shows there are benefits. Here are a few ways that using cannabidiol (CBD) can help ease your headache symptoms.

Relieve some  anxiety

One of the biggest symptoms of anxiety can be found in the form of headaches, with your brain telling your body it needs a break from the uneasy feelings. Sometimes it can be hard to notice that you’re anxious, but physical symptoms like a headache are there to remind you. It’s hard to function when you have a headache, and it can impact your day-to-day life and make you unable to focus.  CBD has sometimes been effective in calming your mind and body down, and it can also help aid sleep, which can be a big issue that causes even more stress.

Relieve pain and inflammation

The most amazing property of CBD is its anti-inflammatory capabilities, which can be used to help ease or treat a whole host of chronic issues. This goes a long way in reducing symptoms and improving people’s quality of life. CBD has advanced so much that you can simply pop a soft gel pill of CBD like you would any other pill to help ease your pain. There are also topical creams and balms that are paired with other natural anti-inflammatory ingredients like peppermint that can help ease neck pain tension or pressure in your temples.

Relieve feelings of nausea

Some people get migraines so intense that it can make them feel physically ill. Scientists believe that CBD could help with nausea because of how it interacts with our serotonin receptors, the hormone that regulates our moods, behaviors, and general well-being. While THC is shown to have more of an effect when it comes to this, you can find strains that have low levels of THC and high levels of CBD, so you can find the relief you need in your body without feeling the buzz in your head.

Some other medications that help with headaches and nausea can cause unpleasant side effects, so CBD could be a great alternative that can assist you without making you feel worse.

Although some people can sometimes have side effects like drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, diarrhea, or reduced appetite. There is also the possibility it can interact with medications like blood thinners. A large cause of concern with CBD is the unreliability of the purity and dosage in products, so it’s good to research first, and as with anything you’re taking it’s really important to seek a doctor’s consultation beforehand.

We’ve also been able to see how people benefit from CBD in so many other different ways when it comes to their health,  thankfully treating headaches and migraines is one of them. As we continue to research and explore more of the science behind it we will hopefully find even more and better ways to leverage CBD in helping to treat headaches and other neurological issues. If it’s your first time trying CBD, make sure you consult with your doctor before taking it.
