Conventions cost federal taxpayers as much as $136 million

Federal taxpayers could be on the hook for more than $136 million to cover the cost of the major political parties’ presidential nominating conventions.

That’s the estimated total taxpayer tab of this week’s Republican Party National Convention in Florida, and next week’s Democratic Party National Convention in North Carolina.

Maryland delegate is source for Romney gear in Tampa

As Maryland’s delegates to the Republican National Convention schmoozed with fellow convention goers at Sunday night’s welcoming party here, Brian Harlin was nowhere to be seen. In addition to serving as one of Maryland’s pledged delegates, Harlin works as the convention’s master vendor for all things Romney sold through his GOP Shoppe of Glen Burnie.
