Maryland’s Republican lawmakers urged the state’s voters to cast their ballots in-person rather than by mail in November’s general election-saying that the former better ensures a more accurate count than the latter.

A super political action committee under review for possibly prohibited coordination between the campaign of Democrat Anthony Brown and his chief fundraiser transferred the bulk of its remaining funds — $250,000 — in mid-October to a federal super committee now running attack ads against Brown’s Republican rival.
While state election officials would not confirm or deny the PAC “One State One Future” was temporarily required to halt campaign activities as a result of the investigation, One State One Future has not reported any major expenditures since late July.

Twenty-thousand deceased Marylanders remain on voter registration rolls, 268,000 voters are registered at addresses where they don’t live, and 48 are listed with record ages higher than 114 years old, according to an analysis by the Maryland Republican Party.

At least two dead voters showed up to vote at least once in a Maryland general election between 2004 and 2008, according to a voter registration watchdog group that has reviewed thousands of voter records this year, 1% of the rolls in the largest counties. The group – Election Integrity Maryland (EIM) – filed a complaint with the State Board of Elections Aug. 30. The group said it found several potential dead voters, voters who registered after they had died and a living Maryland resident who has been voting twice in elections for years.

Questioning the validity of the petitions and the legality of a referendum to overturn the Maryland granting in-state tuition to illegal immigrants, Casa de Maryland and eight Marylanders have sued the State Board of Elections, asking the court to cancel the planned referendum on the law and allow its provisions to take effect now.
