PEACE MAINTAINED AT DELANEY-PARROTT FORUM: The leaders of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce were highly prepared and determined to maintain order. IF OLSZEWSKI WINS HOUSE SEAT, WHO BECOMES BA CO EXEC? Baltimore County is beginning to consider life after County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. if he wins a U.S. House of Representatives seat. If Olszewski wins, County Administrative Officer D’Andrea Walker will take over after he leaves office as interim executive, according to the county charter. A majority of the seven-member council would then vote to appoint a new county executive to serve out the remainder of Olszewski’s term. Six people have publicly said they are interested in being county executive: education advocates Yara Cheikh and Tara Ebersole; Del. Jon Cardin, a Democrat who represents central Baltimore County; former county official Barry Williams; former State Sen. BPW DELAYS ACTION ON PROPOSED WIND PROJECT PIER: Opponents will have more time to weigh in on a proposal for a pier in the Sinepuxent Bay that is needed to serve an offshore wind power project, after state officials paused action on the proposal Wednesday. The Board of Public Works had been scheduled to approve a tidal wetlands license that would have let U.S. Wind begin work on replacing a pier in West Ocean City that is needed to serve its operations and maintenance facility planned for Harbor Road. DOCKWORKERS UNION OFFICIALS COMPENSATED GENEROUSLY: The three-day dockworker strike that threatened to stall the American economy was a dramatic victory for 45,000 East Coast longshoremen, who now stand to collect 60% pay hikes by 2030. The tentative deal between maritime shippers and the International Longshoremen’s Association lifts top pay to $45 an hour next year for laborers on dozen of docks from Maine to Texas, including Baltimore’s. Yet, even with that substantial increase, pay for rank-and-file union members will lag far behind compensation for a cadre of International Longshoremen’s Association executives who make hundreds of thousands a year while enjoying travel and entertainment benefits. HANOVER MAN, 21, HELD ON TERRORIST CHARGE: A 21-year-old from Hanover is being held without bond on a charge of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. CALIFORNIA COMPANY APPARENTLY HIRED MOSBY: Baltimore Brew has determined that God’s Love Outreach Ministries — G.L.O.M. Global – is the unnamed California company that hired Marilyn Mosby as she serves out the remaining nine months of her one-year sentence of home detention. That ministry is trying to establish mental health, substance abuse and other residential facilities in Maryland, which would be overseen by Mosby, the former state’s attorney of Baltimore who was convicted of perjury and mortgage fraud. The company’s founder and president met with Gov. Wes Moore at an event organized to “showcase our commitment to strong leadership and collaboration,” according to a SeptemberFacebook post. GMBC GETS FEDERAL GRANT TO EXPAND FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING: The Greater Baltimore Medical Center recently received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Family Services to expand anti-human trafficking efforts.
