Several thousand people lined one of the busiest intersections near the Columbia Mall Saturday to protest President Trump as part of “No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance” Saturday morning. Events like this were happening all over Maryland and the nation organized by the progressive Indivisible organization.

Cars and trucks honked their approval as the crowd waved hand-made signs and American flags as suggested by the national organizers. The signs emphasized support for democracy and opposition to fascism and various policies of the Trump administration. Some used profanity to emphasize their message.

The protesters were mostly older and white, although there were a range of generations children, Blacks and Asians as well.

UPDATE June 15, 2:07 p.m.: Here is a crowd-sourced estimate of the turnout across the country for as many as 2.100 protests.

Not having a dog in this fight and only looking at the pictures of this rally, to my eye it looks more like a few hundred people. Certainly not the ‘thousands’ claimed by the author. Again, I wasn’t there, but I’d think the author would have used the biggest crowd photos to bolster his claim.

This is interesting, the same folks who are out there protesting were the same folks who voted for him. I just drive by like a normal day.

Actually 67% of the folks in Howard County voted for Harris, and in Columbia, probably closer to 80%

        That’s just stupid.

I would like to know on what basis you made that statement. Did you poll a representative sample of the people protesting? Had you asked anyone if they had voted for Trump, they probably would have been incredulous at the stupidity of your question. Incredibly, based on personal experience and reading interviews with Trump voters, few have changed their views and I doubt the few of those who have would be out there protesting
