With in-person sports betting available in Maryland, sports fans are now awaiting the launch of mobile betting in the state.
While there’s no specific date that Maryland mobile sports betting is expected to go live, there is hope it will launch soon so bettors can take full advantage of platforms and offers like the BetMGM Maryland bonus code.
Date of launch unclear right now
Fans hope Maryland mobile sports betting will launch in time for the upcoming football season, but there are no telltale signs right now to suggest if it actually will or not.
Officials are still working to check everything off the list, including granting licenses, while still making sure Maryland’s retail sports gambling scene is establishing itself as well as possible. In-person betting is available at multiple state casinos, including MGM National Harbor, which is owned by the same company as BetMGM, so regulators already have a handful of work in that area.
The state’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission has to adopt regulations before a Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Agency group sifts through applications in order to award licenses to potential betting operators.
Once mobile betting is live in Maryland, though, significant tax revenue is expected to come into the local economy via the industry. That will be a plus for the state’s residents, even those who don’t gamble.
In Louisiana, which launched mobile betting not long ago, sports gambling platforms paid the state $2.1 million in taxes just for February, according to The Lafayette Daily Advertiser. Maryland can expect a significant stream of money to come in the same way once online betting is live in the state, as bettors tend to flock heavily to the mobile component, according to what’s been seen in other states.
BetMGM Maryland app will have plenty of features
When BetMGM does launch in Maryland, though, it will include plenty of features catered to the needs of both new and experienced bettors.
Users should be able to easily download the BetMGM Sportsbook app from either the App or Google Play stores. Once they verify their information and create an account, they will have access to some of the best odds across any major betting platform, as BetMGM is one of the top names in the game.
The app should also be simple enough to use for both new and veteran bettors. It lists sports and events in categories that are supposed to be easy to navigate, allowing users to quickly navigate through and find their preferred team or matchup to put money down on.
And whether it’s major sports like football, basketball and baseball or even more obscure ones, BetMGM provides odds on nearly anything sports bettors are looking for, so Maryland fans should be in luck once the state launches mobile gambling.
BetMGM also makes use of tools to promote responsible gambling such as GameSense, which helps bettors make informed choices while gaming.
“As BetMGM continues to expand into new markets, responsible gaming education remains a key focus,” the company said in a recent press release. “BetMGM is proud to provide resources to help customers play responsibly including GameSense, an industry leading program, developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
“Through the GameSense integration within BetMGM’s mobile and desktop platforms, customers can directly access responsible gaming tools.”
BetMGM is one of the biggest names in the sports betting industry, so Maryland bettors can be assured the state’s edition of the platform will have plenty of resources for them to take advantage of.
BetMGM offers $1,000 risk-free bet for new users
BetMGM also provides a fairly generous offer for new users, allowing them to have their first wager refunded up to $1,000 if it’s not a winner.
Here’s how it works: once users register for an account, make their initial deposit and place their first bet, one of two things will happen. If the bet wins, they’ll get their earnings back as usual, but if it doesn’t, they’ll get their wager amount back up to $1,000 in free bets.
This is an ideal offer for new bettors, plenty of which are expected to gamble for the first time when Maryland opens up mobile sports betting. It lets them get acclimated to the process while not facing a risk, as they essentially have insurance behind their first bet.
It’s fair to assume this offer will be available for Maryland bettors once mobile betting is live there, so sports fans can add it to the list of what they’re waiting on as regulators set everything up.
