Gov. Martin O’Malley said Thursday that he was surprised and “very disappointed” when he learned that Richard Stewart, a member of the Governor’s Redistricting Advisory Committee, pleaded guilty last Thursday to failing to pay almost $4 million in federal Social Security and income taxes for a company he owned.

The state is poised to chip in its share for the Baltimore roadway improvement needed to make way for the city’s recently-announced Indy Racing League Event.
The Board of Public Works will take up a proposal Wednesday to fix the access road at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, so the park can host pit stops as high-speed racers make their way through the city.

The Maryland Stadium Authority hasn’t collected $1.8 million in outstanding bills from its tenants, including more than $800,000 from the Baltimore Orioles, according to a state audit released Thursday.
The authority’s contract with the Orioles requires that the team pay 25 percent of its advertising revenue from Oriole Park at Camden Yards to the state, auditors said. But the team has argued that certain advertising revenues are not subject to rental payments.

The Maryland Stadium Authority is asking the state to spend about $10.6 million to help fix up Oriole Park at Camden Yards and buy a new audio visual system at M&T Bank Stadium, according to filings with the Board of Public Works.
