State Roundup, January 2, 2013

New laws take effect in state including ban of arsenic in chicken feed, extending “good time credits” for parolees, protecting kids from ID theft and noting military service on driver’s licenses; of course, the gay marriage law was the most visible law that took effect, with couples lining up to exchange vows; as we approach the next General Assembly session, lawmakers hope to address environmental concerns, transportation projects and gun issues; Gov. O’Malley signs flooding mitigation order; and despite charges, Del. Dwyer says he plans to stay in General Assembly.
